Lately I have really struggled with making time for myself. I started by own business so that I could control my schedule and call all of the shots but the truth is I work all of the time! A typical day for me involves posting a new blog post, engaging on social media, organizing for 6-8 hours, catching up on calls and emails from new clients and other small businesses, sending follow up emails and before and afters to the clients that I worked for that day, and then putting the final touches on my blog post for the next day. I am always thinking about new ways to market myself and my business and most of my conversations with my friends and family involve talking about Kuzak's Closet (sorry everyone).
I have decided that I really need make more of an effort to take time off. Yesterday I did just that, kind of... (It wasn't a complete day off, I did have to meet one of my guys at a client's to fill up his truck so he could take junk to the dump and I made a few Craigslist sales.) On a positive note I did manage to sleep in until 8:30am and after working at my clients for a bit I went to Target to do some shopping (for something other than bins) for my upcoming trip to Hilton Head South Carolina. I also hit Pinkies in Los Altos for a manicure, don't my nails look great?
I know it won't last, digging through boxes and piles of stuff everyday really takes a toll on my nails and my hands. In January I had a permanent layer of dirt under my nails from working at the estate so I am glad that I get to look down at polished nails for a few days.
Yesterday was my first trip to Pinkies in Los Altos and it was fabulous. My friend Laura goes there and loves it so I am glad that I finally listened to her recommendation. Isn't this drying table cute? I love the striped chairs, the old ceiling tiles on the wall, and the organized magazines. I stopped at Starbucks on my way for a little afternoon treat, you know I love my caramel macchiatos!
Another look at the final product...the polish is Mademoiselle by Essie.
Target is full of fun things for Spring and Summer already and please take my advice...stock up now! The sizes are already getting picked over retail is always a season or 2 ahead. I bought one of these cute fedora's for my upcoming trip. I have been looking at them for a few seasons and Target has a bunch for $12.99, bargain!
I also bought this cute navy and cream dress. It has the cutest neckline and I love the pleated skirt and pockets. I think it will be really versatile for my upcoming trip to South Carolina, I can wear it over a swimsuit or with a cardigan to lunch or dinner.
I have had my eye on this top for a few weeks but I haven't been to Target to shop for me, only for my clients, so I haven't had time to try it on. It comes in a variety of patterns and has a really flattering fit. I will probably wear it with white jeans or denim trousers.

Love the fedora.
ReplyDeleteI say schedule yourself time, just like you schedule time for your clients!! When you look at your calendar and you've scheduled time off on Friday morning from 7 a.m. - 11 a.m. then say "no", I have an appt. (!!!). Treat yourself as well as you treat your clients :) It's taken me a good 10-15 years but I've finally, finally *gotten* it -- that time is precious to me and it's becoming habit for me to take my Saturdays off and just "be" -- it's great. I feel so much better for it. Don't get me wrong, I love my job and love working but time is becoming much more precious to me then money these days. Budget your time like you would budget your money. Just a thought. It's hard to turn it off.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right about the scheduling advice, I need to work on saying no!
DeleteI just bought that same dress today at target. I love it now I have to get some shoes. Have fun in SC :)
